The United States carried out a second wave of airstrikes against Iran in two days, escalating tensions in the ongoing battle over control of the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil shipments. President Donald Trump said the strikes were launched in response to alleged Iranian efforts to deploy sea mines in the waterway and a missile attack targeting a U.S. military base in Jordan.
