Salvador Nasralla, when serving as the ranking vice-president of Honduras, witnessed this firsthand after taking office in 2022. Arguing that he got blindsided and had no political influence to perform his duties within the coalition deal, he resigned and announced his presidential candidacy with the Liberal Party. He remains a prominent public figure and contends he is the opposition candidate with the strongest chance of defeating the ruling Libre party.

He also addresses the risks Honduras faces due to the recent strengthening of ties with China and signs of possible manipulation in the upcoming elections.
